Theresa Peterson

Position: President - Position 3
Term: June 2027
Appointing Authority: Rocky Point Voters
Email Address: theresa@rpfire.com

Background

Born in Idaho, Theresa has made her home in the rural communities of the Klamath Basin since 1984. She is self-employed in the farming industry, running operations from home. Through Rocky Point Fire, she became an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in 2022 and, while she has recently stepped back from active medical duties, she continues to support the department’s mission.

Path to Rocky Point

Theresa and her family purchased a second home in Rocky Point in 2015, later settling into a larger home near close friends. During the 2021 pandemic year, a “Volunteers Needed” sign at the station—and years of watching her husband serve with the Tulelake Volunteer Fire Department—prompted her to attend board meetings and get involved.

Service & Leadership

Theresa joined the board in 2021 as Secretary and now serves as Board President. She focuses on clear governance, strong community ties, and practical support for operations—championing fire-mitigation efforts and ensuring the station remains resilient in the long term.

What She Brings & Focus

Drawing on years of experience in small-business management and hands-on volunteer work, Theresa emphasizes empathy, accountability, and forward-looking planning. Her priorities include elevating fundraising, expanding community involvement, and ensuring a small rural department has the equipment and resources it needs to thrive—today and for future generations.

Beyond the Boardroom

Theresa loves spending time with family—especially her two young grandsons. She and her husband of 34 years have three grown children and share their home with two small, very opinionated dogs.
