David G. Carpenter
BACKGROUND
Born and raised in Carmel, California, David spent nearly three decades safeguarding travelers and crews at the Monterey Regional Airport Fire Station. His depth of emergency-response experience— from aircraft incidents to structural fires and car accidents—became the foundation for his next chapter in Rocky Point.
Path to Rocky Point
After relocating to Rocky Point in 2020, David saw the need for experienced hands. He began as a quiet mentor, was elected Board President, and later accepted the role of Interim Fire Chief during the search for a permanent chief. To keep board governance clean, he stepped down from the presidency and now serves as Treasurer while leading daily operations as Interim Chief.
Role in Rocky Point
David remains 100% volunteer—answering calls, running drills, coaching new members, and minding the books. His focus is simple: keep the crew ready, the equipment reliable, and the finances sound so the next chief inherits a stronger, more resilient department.
Beyond the Boardroom
David enjoys fishing local lakes, hunting Oregon’s back-country, and spending time with his wife, four children, a growing crew of grandkids, and a line of spirited Vizslas—a breed his family helped introduce to the United States in the 1960s and ’70s.
