Diana Newdall

BACKGROUND
Raised in Huntington Beach, California, Diana moved to Grants Pass in 1976. In the early 2000s she trained as a First Responder, earned Firefighter I and Wildland Firefighter qualifications, and served as an EMT Basic from 2005 to 2015.
PATH TO ROCKY POINT
Her first volunteer day was the 1996 Rocky Point BBQ and Summer Festival. After moving here full time in 2000, she began volunteering as an ambulance driver. She and her husband, Mike, chose Rocky Point for the area and the community they loved.
ROLE IN ROCKY POINT
Diana stepped in where the need was greatest. She started with ambulance driving and, over time, learned to operate every vehicle in the station. She serves to help neighbors she has known for years and to be present in their time of need.
PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
In the early 2000s Diana served on the Community Action Team and led a house number and street sign project. With a State Farm grant written by Mata Rust, community members assembled signs through the winter and Rocky Point volunteers installed them in the summer. It was a true team effort that improved emergency response across the area.
BEYOND THE STATION
On most days you will find Diana outside, working the property. She especially enjoys a good burn day for vegetation management.
